ZOOM!
What started as a necessity during the height of Covid has now become a regular staple in my voice studio. About 25% of my clientele continue to successfully take lessons online. I can honestly say that online teaching has been a blessing in disguise. Online lessons are a great option for anyone who can’t get to me in person. Lessons are a little modified in structure, but the end result is the same. Is there some tech involved? Yes - but it’s really not difficult at all.
If you haven’t downloaded the ZOOM app, you’ll need to. To make ZOOM work well for music lessons, you’ll need to modify the audio settings. As soon as you book your first online lesson, I will send a short walk-through tutorial of how to modify your zoom audio settings. It’s quick and easy! Although you can technically zoom using your cell phone, I highly suggest using a laptop.
If you enjoy lessons, and know you’ll be here for the long haul, I suggest investing in an external USB microphone (such as a blue snowball, available on Amazon). This is beneficial to me because I can hear the intricacies of your voice better, but it is not a necessity. Modifying the audio settings on Zoom takes care of many of the sound issues. .
